Abstract

<p>This study investigates the profound impact of color on space perception, recognizing color as a pivotal element that influences various aspects of human life. With the human eye capable of distinguishing over 2000 different colors, this research explores the physical processing of color and its specific meanings in daily existence (Schauss, 1979; Savavibool &amp; Moorapun, 2017). The primary objective is to comprehend how color affects interior spaces, including its implications on behavior, practical function, and cognition. Space perception, encompassing elements such as value, function, form, size, and proportions, is crucial in understanding how individuals interact with and interpret their surroundings (Jaglarz, 2011). In the context of interior design, color significantly influences perceptions of spaciousness, openness, complexity, and order (Savavibool &amp; Moorapun, 2017). The study aims to provide designers with a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between color and space perception, enabling them to plan and design spaces that align with users' needs and preferences (Wiercioch-Kuzianik &amp; B?bel, 2019). The research methodology involves a thorough review of existing literature, incorporating seminal works from Schauss, Savavibool, Moorapun, Jaglarz, Wiercioch-Kuzianik, and B?bel. Through an interdisciplinary approach, this study synthesizes insights from psychology, design, and human behavior to construct a holistic perspective on the relationship between color and interior spaces. Findings from this research highlight the multifaceted impact of color on interior spaces, shedding light on how different hues evoke emotional responses and shape spatial perceptions. By understanding these dynamics, designers can make informed decisions that go beyond functional considerations, creating spaces that enhance the overall user experience. The integration of color theories and space perception principles empowers designers to optimize spatial layouts to elicit desired emotional and cognitive responses. In conclusion, this study contributes valuable insights to the evolving discourse on the role of color in interior design, emphasizing its significance in meeting user needs and shaping space perception. The research findings provide practical implications for designers, offering a foundation for informed decision-making in the creation of aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient interior spaces.
