Abstract

Eco-teaching of literature explores the profound connection between literature and environmental awareness. This educational approach not only enhances our understanding of environmental concerns but also fosters sensitivity toward the surrounding world. While the ecological movement gained momentum in the late 1960s, literary figures had long been preoccupied with the environment in their own distinctive ways. Their expressions of concern vary, but they collectively contribute to a greater appreciation of the interdependence of literature and the natural world. Robert Frost, the farmer-poet, exemplifies a profound connection between literature and nature. Having tilled his own land for years, Frost's poetry emerges from his intimate interaction with the fields and people intertwined with the elemental forces of Earth and Sky. Nature isn't merely a backdrop in his works; it's a powerful instrument of education. Frost's poetry abounds with natural symbols and imagery, which seamlessly traverse his various volumes. His poetic oeuvre resonates with the symbolism of trees, water, woods, snow, stars, darkness, and light, among others. Notably, Frost's philosophical contemplations are elegantly cloaked in a conversational style, making his works accessible and impactful. He possesses an acute perception of the world as it exists, establishing a profound connection with the rhythms of nature and human existence. His poetry intricately unravels the intricate nuances and moods of both the human realm and the natural world. Frost's literary protagonists learn fundamental truths about life through their encounters with nature, revealing the beauty and grandeur of the natural world in the process. This study delves into the eco-teaching potential of Robert Frost's works, demonstrating how his poetry serves as a powerful medium for instilling environmental awareness and understanding in readers
