Abstract
Crowdsourcing has gained prominence as a knowledgesearch method in journalism, with contributors playing a vital role in shaping journalistic content. However, limited empirical research exists on the motivations driving individuals to participate in crowdsourced journalism initiatives. This study aims to bridge this gap by exploring the factors motivating participants in crowdsourced journalism. Drawing from interviews with individuals engaged in crowdsourced story processes, we uncover key motivational drivers that shed light on the nature of their participation. This understanding not only provides insights into the participants' perspectives but also informs the design of more effective crowdsourcing processes for journalists and contributors alike
